DAY 31. I WILL NOT GIVE UP

Well, good morning to me. I am back to my frugal diet. Then I did some laundry in the new bucket. I feel a little better now. Yes, I am passportless, so I am almost an illegal immigrant, but will that stop me from travelling? Tomorrow the embassy opens, the police will help me contact it to find out what options they can offer me, if they can help me. And today I will spend the whole day cleaning up and preparing to continue my journey, because no matter what they tell me tomorrow, I will not give up my adventure.

Yoli cheered me up with a huge mug of cocoa and some bread. It is very nice of her.

My orange canoe now looks great against the general greyness, I cannot get enough of the new colour. Orange makes any difficulties easier to bear. For me it is the colour of energy and movement, of life itself, and as long as I am alive, anything is possible.

The weather is awful today: it is raining all the time. The rain goes on and on and on. Only in the evening the clouds dissipated to show the clear skies, and I finally managed to catch some fish. However, something went wrong: I caught a whole bucket of small catfish, but there was no one to eat them – the cats had disappeared. One of them flashed by, but all my attempts to find it again were unsuccessful. I will have to let the fish out back into the river. I am not hungry.
